Before the Raiders would take the field on game day john would always say to his team "don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon" the teamed loved John and they responded by make him to this day the highest winning percentage of any coach with over 100 wins.
With the recent passing of the Raider Legend John Madden on the 28th of December 2021, this was the Raiders first home game since his death at the age of 85. John was a legend in every sense of the word. Most people would be considered successful if they just had his career in coaching, or his career in broadcasting. John was successful it seemed in literally everything he did. Most of the youth of America and the world now knows him for the video game Madden football, but he was so much more than that. For me, I always loved the Miller Lite commercials the best. The first one where he busts through the paper and the end was hilarious. It showed that he did not take himself too seriously and was able to have fun and roll with it. He just seemed relatable to people.
I was so happy that the John was able to see the special tribute to him made by Fox literally just days before he passed. After the tribute was over an emotional John Madden simply said " Wow, that was something… When I hear that stuff, makes me realize… what I didn’t realize probably . Though I never got to meet John, it seems like everyone who did was better for that experience. Gone but never forgotten. Rest in Peace John.
