Description
This photo of the Diamond Head State Monument was taken in the mid-day in park near Waikiki. When people looked at my gallery here on Oahu I would always mention this particular photo as one in particular that anyone on the island could go and get for themselves. If they knew where the park was and stood in the right spot, click, they now have this photo too. Some of my shots like the rainbow over the Banzai Pipeline or my Lanikai Beach Canoes at Sunrise are something that only I have, but I always told people that anyone could go out to the park and get this shot any day of the week if they knew where to go.
Well that was until I went back to the park and saw that two of the palm trees are no longer there. If you are counting the 8 palms from left to right from the base of the palm, not the top, you will no longer see palm trees number 5 and 6 (the most unique ones in the shot). There is nothing but a spot of dirt where these two palm trees once were standing.
I was pretty shocked to see only 6 of the palm trees left and now that those two taller palm trees are gone that particular shot is destroyed. My guess is that the two palm trees started leaning to far over and they had to be uprooted so they would not fall on anyone playing around in the park. So this shot I once thought anyone could go and get is pretty much gone for now at least unless they replant two new palm trees there.
